Mary A Whitlock is a NYC based postpartum doula and a health + wellness coach whose philosophy is that a healthy foundation is a catalyst for a healthier future.
Born, raised, and living in New York City, Mary understands and embraces the overwhelming demands and stresses that city life puts on families. She is inspired and passionate about providing families and individuals with the resources, empathetic support and nurturing to maintain a balanced life. Services include postpartum and labor doula support, ayurvedic meal planning, ayurvedic health consultations, holistic nutrition education, health coaching, and meditation.
Mary is a Certified Health Coach and Doula specializing in postpartum care and Ayurvedic wellness. After struggling with her own hormonal issues and anxiety, she was determined to find balance and heal. Mary adopted an ayurvedic practice incorporating, daily meditation, breathwork, yoga and healthy eating into her life which had such a transformative effect that it moved her to study under some of the most influential ayurvedic teachers in the US and India, including Vasant Lad founder and director of the Ayurvedic Institute, the National Ayurvedic Medical Association's Hilary Garivaltis, and Natural Gourmet’s Richard Lamarita. Mary completed her DONA Postpartum and Birth Doula training with the renowned Debra Pascali-Bonaro, followed by an internship at, Healthy Mother & Natural Birth Sanctum in Hyderabad, India- an affiliate clinic of the International MotherBaby Childbirth Organization. There she provided gentle birth and postpartum support to women under the guidance of Dr. Vijaya Krishnan and some of the leading midwives in the country. Her experience at the clinic was so heartfelt and life-changing that it has motivated and inspired her to work towards improving maternal and infant health and create a ripple effect of positive change for a brighter future.
Before her work in wellness, Mary was a top performing fashion director. She led design teams in the creation of some of the most successful brands for one of the worlds largest retailers. In 2017 after ten years of working in the retail industry, Mary decided to take a massive action to pursue her passion, to mindfully contribute, and provide support to her community. Her experience working in retail was invaluable, she learned so much about herself and how to nurture the development of others.
Mary is deeply grateful to all of her teachers and for the life experiences that have brought her to this very moment.
