Postpartum Doula + Ayurvedic Chef
In-person fourth-trimester support + nourishment.
Pregnancy is a transformative time in a woman's life, a period of growth and transition. The unique Ayurvedic approach to pregnancy and postpartum, which I specialize in, honors this process by nurturing maternal and infant development-- intending to reduce internal and external stresses, allowing the mother and her baby to experience more harmonious cyclical changes and a gentler recovery and healing time postpartum. As a postpartum doula, it is my job to "mother the new mother" so that she can focus her energy on bonding with her new baby and recover from childbirth. I help facilitate this transition for new and growing families by providing non-medical support and education during the first three months after birth, also known as the fourth trimester.
My services include a combination of supportive practices meant to ground and nourish mothers--most importantly, with my home-cooked meals, as a healthy and nutritious diet is essential in postpartum recovery. Ayurveda recommends that mothers eat well-balanced meals while minimizing particular foods that can be difficult for their digestive systems. An Ayurvedic postpartum meal is served fresh and warm. It includes grounding and lubricating ingredients that are appropriately seasoned with digestive spices. Meals are nutrient-dense, easy to digest, breastfeeding-friendly, customized to the needs of the mothers and their families, and, most importantly, made with ♡.
How it works:
Hours of service are between 9 a.m. and end at 7 p.m., Monday- Friday.
As part of the comprehensive postpartum doula care I provide, I tailor each day's services to the mother's needs. This includes preparing home-cooked Ayurvedic meals customized to support the mother's constitutional needs and dietary preferences. Sessions run around 4-6 hours. Standard service is about two shifts per week, while three shifts per week ensures a whole week of nourishing, home-cooked meals.
A total of six menu items can be selected per service day. These include breakfast, veg, grains, proteins, snacks, broths, elixirs, and herbal teas. Meals are prepared family-style and, depending on individual portion sizes, are plenty for one to two people.
Each week, I will send you your menu for your meal selection for the upcoming week. You can make changes or any special requests within 24 hours of receiving the menu.
Upon hiring, we will arrange a prenatal intake session. During this session, I will discuss the scope of my practice, provide general postpartum education, and review your individual constitutional information. I will also gather information about your postpartum preferences, newborn care, household logistics, and any other particular needs for my services. Most importantly, this initial meeting is to get better acquainted so I fully understand your needs and can provide you with the best possible support.
